Mountaineering vs Skiing

Last year I met some good people to get into the back country with. The only problem was I had both of my knees scoped on April 18th so I wasn't able to take advantage of all the spring skiing/mountaineering. With no new snow for awhile and warm temps I called on Jeff and Jason W from the squad to take advantage of it. We ended up hiking Mount Guyot (a 13er in Summit with three others Bud, Joe and Christian.
Although it didn't soften up as planed it was still a good day in the woods and above. We wanted to Summit but exhaustion and skiing won. At 400 feet from the top I asked Jeff and Jason if we are skiers or mountaineers. They replied skiers.

  1. You are studly. . . looks crusty, though, more than the clown even. I can't get a grip on the fact that it is still wintery there! I am sweating as I type. Next winter, though--I want an invite!
